Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga program :

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Draa valley– Zagora
The morning we will take the road crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m above sea level) wich is the highest mountain pass in Morocco. We will make a stop to enjoy stunning landscapes and to drink coffee or freshly squeezed orange juice while enjoying magnificent panoramic views of the mountains and Berber villages around.
After that we continue driving to arrive at Ait Benhaddou. Upon arrival at Ait Ben Haddou, a guided visit to its famous kasbah classified a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
This kasbah is one of the most spectacular ksours (fortified villages) in Morocco. Also the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou was the filmset for more than 20 international movies).
After the visit of Ait Ben Haddou kasbah we will continue driving to arrive at Ouarzazate crossing the Anti-Atlas and the green and peaceful Draa Valley and its huge fields of dates and henna wich is the longest valley in the entire kingdom (1052 km2) and the largest palm groves.
Then we continue the way to reach Zagora that is the last city before the real desert begins. Dinner and accommodation in a charming traditional hotel in Zagora.

Day 2: Zagora – Tazarine – Erg Chebbi dunes ( Dunes of Merzouga)
After breakfast our Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga continue. Our itinerary will continue south through N’koub and the village of Tazzarine (featured in the movie ‘Babel’). We will drive along the old caravans path to discover the nature of the desert.
We will make a stop for lunch under the shade of an acacia (picnic in the desert). In the afternoon, the trip will take us to Erfoud. Erfoud is known for beeing a fossils world capital.
We will visit a local fossils workshop to allow you to have an idea about how plates of fossils and fossilized marble are transformed into real objects of art. Then we continue the way to reach the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi.
A very beautiful expanse of undulating dunes. Upon arrival at the dunes of Erg Chebbi,
we will take you to the Auberge where you can take a leisurely walk through the desert to watch the magical sunset. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 3: Merzouga – Risanni – Nomad family – Desert tour
The morning after breakfast we will go to visit the village of Khamlia wich is famous for its Gnawa music native to the great African Sahara. We will also visit some deserted mines and we will share a mint tea with a Berber nomad family in the oasis of palm trees.
After that we will drive through the black desert (Hamada) following of the DAKAR Rally path. After that we will drive direction to Rissani where you can walk through the most authentic and traditional souk in Morocco and the largest one in the south of Morocco.
In this market you will find a lot of kinds of crafts, food and animals. Market days are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. It will be the opportunity to taste the Madfouna (Berber stuffed pizza) at the home of a local family.
Then we will return to the dunes of Merzouga. Late the afternoon, camel ride to access to a well equipped Sahata desert camp to spend the night in a nomadic tent under the sky full of thousands of stars and under the sweetness of rythms of local music in the heart of the Sahara.
This is a great opportunity to take beautiful beautiful picturs of the magical sunset and also to explore the secrets of the Sahara and its limitless horizons.

Day 4: Merzouga – Todra gorges– Dades gorges
You can get up early the morning to enjoy the spectacular sunrise from the desert. Then we will enjoy delicious breakfast at the camp. After that camel ride back to the auberge in Merzouga to meet your driver.
The itinerary of this day of the 5 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will take us to the Todra Gorges to enjoy the wonderful views of its canyon walls while we walk through them.
We will continue the way through Berber villages and palm groves. We will make a stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch break we will continue driving through Boumalen to reach the Dades Gorges where we will spend thIS night of the Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga in a charming hotel.

Day 5: Dades gorges– Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Telouet – Marrakech
Today after breakfast, we will drive along Kelaa Mgouna (Valley of Roses) known for beeing the capital of roses thanks to its production and also to its festival of roses organized every year between April and May when you can buy a bouquet of roses.
We will continue to Ouarzazate known as the Hollywood of Africa thanks to its cinema studios which hosted many international film productions.
We continue the way along the Ounila Valley to arrive at Ait Ben Haddou known for its Kasbah classified a world heritage site by the UNESCO. And at just 40 kms from the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, we will reach the Kasbah of Telouet on the path of the ancient caravans that link the Sahara to Marrakech at the Atlas Mountains.
The kasbah of Telouet was the seat of power of the El Glaoui family. King Moulay Hassan gave them political power in south of Morocco and the High Atlas. The Glaoui was almost powerful as the Sultan himself. The palace can still be visited, but it is increasingly damaged and is slowly collapsing.
At 2010, work was underway to restore the property. If you have the opportunity on Thursday, we will visit a traditional souk in the Atlas village. Lunch in the Atlas Mountains. After that we continue the road crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass to reach Marrakech late in the afternoon or early evening.
Upon arival at Marrakech, we will transfer you to Marrakech airport. The end of our services for this 5 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
