Day 1: Arrival at Errachidia – Erfoud
Upon arrival at Errachidía, we will transfer you to Erfoud through the Ziz Valley. Accommodation in a charming Kasbah in Erfoud.
Day 2: Erfoud – Rissani – Kasbahs – Merzouga
In the morning after breakfast we continue this tour departure from Errachidia- Sahara desert tours. We will explore the city of Erfoud wich is known for its workshops for the transformation of fossil slabs and fossilized marble into real art objects. After that, we will continue our trip direction to Rissani (the capital of Sijilmassa on the old road of caravans from Morocco to Timbuktu). We will make a visit to its famous Souk wich is one of the most authentic and traditional Moroccan souks, and the largest in southern Morocco. Here you will find all kind of crafts, food and animals. Rissani is also known for its Madfouna or Berber pizza that we will taste If time allows it. Also we will discover some kasbahs around the city.
Then, we will continue our path to the fascinating dunes of Erg Chebbi. An incredibly beautiful extension of the undulating dunes also known as the Dunes of Merzouga. Dinner and overnight at a local Auberge (desert inn).
Day 3: Merzouga sightseeing tour – Nomads – Camel ride (desert camp)
In the morning we will visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music native to the great African Sahara. We will visit some deserted mines and share a mint tea with the a Berber nomad family in a oasis of palm trees. After that we will drive through the black desert (Hamada) on the path of the Paris-Dakar rally . In the afternoonWe will return to Merzouga. On arrival, camel ride to access to the desert camp in the hear of the great dunes of Erg Chebbi to spend an unforgettable night under rythms of music and around campfire. This is a great opportunity to take beautiful pictures of the magical sunset an d also to explore the secrets of the Sahara and its limitless horizons. Day 4 :Merzouga – Todgha gorges– Dades gorges
If you get up early enough, you will be able to see the spectacular sunrise. The color of the dunes and the shape of the shadows are combined in an incredible sight. The activity of this day of our trip will take us to the Dades gorges through the Todgha Gorges with its wonderful panoramic views of its canyon walls. We will continue our way through Berber villages and palm groves. We will make a stop on the road for lunch break in a local restaurant. Then we will cross the administrative city of Boumalene to reach the Dades Gorges where we will spend this night in a charming hotel. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 5: The Dades gorges– Valley of roses – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Today after breakfast, we will drive along Kelaa Mgouna (Valley of Roses) where a festival is organising every year during April and May when you can buy a bouquet of roses. After that we will continue to Ouarzazate known for its film studios which host many international film productions. Ouarzazate is also known as the «Hollywood of Morocco». Then we will follow the road along the Ounila Valley and just 40 km from the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, we will see the Kasbah of Telouet on the road of old caravanes from the Sahara to the Atlas Mountains .
It was the seat of power of the El Glaoui family. The King Moulay Hassan gave them political power in Morocco south of the High Atlas Mountains. The Glaoui were almost as powerful as the Sultan himself. The palace can still be visited, but it is increasingly damaged and is slowly collapsing. At 2010, work was underway to restore the property. If you have the opportunity on Thursday, you will visit a traditional souk in this Atlas village. We will make a stop for lunch in the Atlas Mountains. After that we will cross the Tizi-n-Tichka pass to reach Marrakech late in the afternoon / early evening.
